Brazos Valley Reptiles Ruthveni King Snakes Page
Ruthveni King Snakes come from the Quarto Mountains in Mexico. They are a tri colored snake with red, black and white
bands. They are a small snake both in body girth and length. The adult body is about an inch or an inch and a half thick
and they reach a length of about 3 feet. They tend to be a bit "flighty" and will readily "musk" when handled but mine have
yet to bite me. They are a secretive snake and tend to only venture out at night preferring to stay in their hide box or
buried in the substrata during the day. They don't require any special housing requirements, a 10 gallon aquarium, suitable
substrata, a water bowl big enough to soak in, a hide box, and a rock to assist in shedding will be sufficient for one
snake. They should be kept about 70 to 80 degrees to insure proper digestion of their food.
