Brazos Valley Reptiles California King Snakes Page

The California King Snakes make a good beginners snake, but not quite as good as the Corn Snake does. They are quite easy to handle although the babies have a tendency to be a bit nippy until they get used to be handled. They grow to be between four and five feet long. They are inexpensive but do cost a little more than the Corn Snake. They don’t require a lot of special care nor special housing requirements

The California King Snake comes in a variety of colors, both in the albino and normal color morphs of the snake. They come banded or striped. There is also an albino version which is devote of either bands or stripping and is called the Blizzard California King Snake. There is a banana version in which the white is more of a yellow hue than white and a chocolate version which the black is more brown or chocolate than black. Breeders are continually coming up with new and unusual color morphs or patterns. There is even a zigzag version in which the bands or stripes take on a zigzag pattern. The Albino Morse Code California King snake is a cross between an Albino Banded California King and an Albino Striped California King, the results have a pattern with dots and dashes which resemble the Morse Code.
